How to Eat Less and Enjoy It!

November 27, 2007

Slowing down your eating helps reduce food intake. Eating
quickly - and not paying attention to the pleasurable
sensations associated with eating - reduces satisfaction,
so fast, inattentive eaters tend to eat more. In addition,
there is a time lag between being full and feeling full.
Eating slowly reduces this lag.
There are timers on the market that signal you when to
take a bite and/or how long to chew, but an easier and less
annoying method is to listen to soft, slow music while
eating. A study at Johns Hopkins University showed that
people ate less and chewed more slowly when they listened
to soft, slow music.
