Relax when you eat for better digestion
July 10, 2008
If you want to improve your digestion while training your body to make less fat, relax when you eat. Stressing when you are eating shunts blood away from your stomach and shuts down your digestive processes; the stress response is your body’s way of preparing to deal with danger and you don’t want to waste your energy digesting food when you may need it to save your life. So your food just sits there, and we all know what that feels like. The stress response also releases cortisol, which induces insulin resistance. Insulin helps force blood sugar into your cells; when the sugar can’t get it, your body stores it as fat. Plus, if you are stressed, you’ll tend to eat faster, and more.
Benita Zahn will be featuring Human HyperFormance and Meridian Resistance Flexibility and Strength Training tomorrow on Channel 13 WNYT Live at Five News. Dara Torres’ success at the Olympic Swimming Trials (the oldest U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials champion in history) has generated a lot of interest in the system that she calls “her secret weapon”.
